I was just at our Walmart and they have a new display for their FQ's, Jelly Rolls and other stuff. I was so surprised because it wasn't there last time. The FQ's are $1.00 ea and I got some nice fabric for $2 a yard. They have two displays of quilting fabric in different places.
People can say what they want about Walmart but I love my store and frequent it a lot.

Wow, I'm jealous. All the walmarts in Houston have closed their fabric departments. No more. Wahhhhh!

Yeah, but from what you've posted, I'm jealous of Ben Franklins! I guess the grass is always greener!

I'm with you, I love my Walmart. Their fabrics are reasonably priced. They carry a lot of what Hancock has and at a lesser price. I don't know if they're seconds but have never found any problems with the fabrics. Two Super Walmart's are being built here, I hope they don't discontinue the fabric departments.
I did buy some of their FQ's from the new display that they put up. Like paying $1.00 rather thatn $3.00 for them :!:

My three Walmarts got rid of their fabric department after they said that they were going to keep them. I was very disappointed.

I also frequent my Wally World's fabric department. The last time I was in, they had gotten in some new fabrics ($8.95 yd.!!) Bought had a heart attack. The lady I know who works there said to be sure and check the WOF in any new fabrics that we buy now as the manufacturers are making them smaller.....But they still have some nice stuff for $2/yd.???

The lady at WalMart said to look at the end of the bolt to see what the WOF is -- that we just can't take it for granted anymore. (That the new bolts weren't as wide as previous.) However, when I saw the price tag on the new stuff at WalMart, I didn't look any further...

I guess the manufacturers are trying to cut cost too.....

I have two Walmarts, one about 5 minutes away, another about 20 minutes away. The one closest to me still has quite a bit of fabric (after their remodel), but not near what they used to. They also don't have fat quarters, jelly rolls, etc.
I just got back from the one 20 minutes away, and they have fat quarters for $1, jelly rolls, etc! They also have a much larger selection for $2.44 a yard! And - I found Hannah Montana fabric there for my granddaughter who will be 6 in August! That was $4.44 a yard. I got two different prints of that, plus about 5 yards of others just cause I liked them! :D :D
I've never seen a problem with the fabric from them yet!
    :-)
