Has anyone made a large top for their ironing board? If so, how did you do it, and what materials did you use? The Big Boards are very heavy, so I'm hoping to get an idea for a lighter alternative. If anyone has any ideas, please help. Thanks.

I made my own by just cutting a piece of wood the size I wanted and then I just use towels (2 or 3) on top. I wrap the towels underneath to hold them down, so when they lose the fluff that I like, I can take them off to wash. I have a dresser that I actually lay this one which gives me a big surface to iron. Hope this helps.

Are you talking about the bigger boards that lay on top of your regular ironing board to increase the ironing surface?
If so, I have only seen them advertised, but never a homemade one, sorry.
