I like a zig-zag or chevron pattern - there are thousands of ways to work with them - just start laying them out and see what happens.

Any basic quilt block book will list hundreds of patterns. Try the library or a google quilt blocks. Don't be put off by sites that claim ownership of the old standards. They do not.

I made a graduation quilt in 2005 from all HSTs. I'm having a Sr. moment and cant remember the name of the block now can I find the magazine with the pattern. I do remember that it was scrappy and I used all shades and prints of pink from lightest pink to the maroons. the other half of the hsts were white on white. When I cut the blocks, it gave two blocks of the same fabrics, only one was a positive and one was a negative. I'll continue to search and if and when I do find it I'll send the info along to you. I love to make HSTs, so I really enjoyed making that quilt.

I really had wanted to do this pattern but I think 6 inch HST's are to big. I am tempted to cut them down. Not sure what size they should be.

Really like #2 but think my 6 inch blocks are too big. #1 should work, will try tomorrow.
