I have been admiring the Warm Wishes quilts. This looks like a really easy and fast quilt that has a more difficult look. The pattern I have seen calls for 6 inch squares. I have some Christmas charms I would like to use for the focus squares. Has anyone done this pattern using Charms or 5 inch squares instead of 6 inch. I don't know why the size of the squares would matter.
Also..... I did not see the width of the strips that make up the other block (the three stripes) Can anyone tell me what size they should be? THANKS in advance for your help!

The striped square equals 6 inches also, so if you are using charm blocks, your striped square will have to be 5 inches also. In the pattern there is a 3" strip with 2" strip attached to either side of it the subcut into 6 inch squares. In your case your strips sewn together would have to measure 5 inches.

I believe the pattern is free

Hope this is what you are looking for

Oops sorry didn't completely read your requests :oops:

Ok so if you still wanted to do the 3" center strip, then your outside strips would have to be 1 1/2" each to use the charm 5" square.

I think she was looking for actual cutting instructions.

@kim
The inch that is lost in size by using the smaller charm squares doesn't divide nicely without dealing with crazy fractions, so you can cut the fabric for the strips as follows:

The top and bottom strips CUT 1.75"" wide by WOF
The wider middle strip CUT 2.5" wide by WOF

When you sew the three strips together, the strip set should measure 5" = (1.5", 2", 1.5" )
You then cross cut the strip set into 5" squares,
which will FINISH at 4.5" = (1.25",2",1.25" ).

The original 6" pattern had the cuts at 3" and 2", which created a slightly wider middle = FINISHING in the 5.5" block at 1.5",2.5",1.5"

The other options is to cut the middle strip 2.75" wide, and the other two strips 1 5/8" wide. That would give you a wider middle (wider than the original pattern), with FINISHED measurements of 1 1/8", 2.25",1 1/8" =4.5"

Either choice will have a slightly different look to it, but I doubt it will be really noticeable.

Your choice.
