I am planning my next quilt (this one isn't nearly finished yet) and am thinking of doing a watercolor quilt. I would love to hear from those of you who have done these. I won't get a kit. Big question is whether or not to make it a landscape quilt of just the type that is more or less a design of the color wheel spread out in a linear and rectangular shape with twists and various shapes. I have seen beautiful quilts done both ways.
So I would love to hear from those of you who have already made one - pros and cons and tips and stuff. I thought I would use that sectioned grid backing for 2" squares since I'm a newby. Thanks.

a gray-scale really comes in handy when working on water-color quilts, helps you really see the light/medium/darks without the colors getting in the way. i have found i can easily set up 2 piles of squares--lights and darks---but when you start putting mediums in to the mix .... a grayscale ! you can also clip little (swatches) of your fabric glue them in order to a piece of paper, scan then print in grayscale. again, this will help you see the values of the fabrics

Great topic...I'd like to make one, too, but have been a bit intimidated; no make that a lot! I bought a grid and a couple of books 2 yrs ago and still have not done anything with them. I love color and think this would be the ultimate quilt for me.
