Does anyone have experience with an euro steam iron.? I see it at quilt shows and yesterday I watched a demo and thought it is pretty neat. my Rowenta serves me well and I hesitate to spend 200 on euro steam without hearing from users. any opinion is appreciated.

I have had one for a number of years now - maybe 10. I like it. I, too, purchased after a demo at a quilt shop thinking their demo was interesting as well. I also have a Rowenta which I like as well. I don't think the Euro is as heavy as the Rowenta but it does do a good job. You do need to use distilled water. No biggie for me as I just pick up a jug at the grocery store as my Rowenta also requires distilled water.

I think the Rowenta does a better job 'dry' but both work equally well with steam, in my opinion. I did have to have hubs replace the plug a couple of years ago but that's it.

i too had the Euro, but found that it is only 1100 watts and did not get as hot as my newer irons. I did not like the fact that when it ran out of water you needed to find a potholder to release the valve and fill with water. My iron was very heavy .....which I liked at the time.....now not so much. It only lasted about a year and I bought a Panasonic from Costco and it is 1700 watts and fantastic. I would look at the iron that "stands up" when you put it down. I have heard a lot of good reviews in comparison to the Euro. Pricey when I can get the same results from my cheapy from Costco or Amazon. Wattage is what sells me on an iron.

I've had mine 4 years now and really like it. I use 1/2 tap water and 1/2 distilled water. I like the fact that it doesn't turn itself off which makes it nice for when you piece a while then press for a bit, piece for a while, etc.

Is this the one that doesn't get hot to the touch? I know some quilter friends who love theirs but they haven't had it for long. I read the reviews and the reports are mixed. For that amount of money, I want a 5-star rating across the board.
