I think it's a fast and easy pattern that appeals to newbies and to those of use who just want to make a quilt that doesn't require too much thinking. Personally, I have enough problems just trying to cut straight!

I like the pattern for a couple reasons. It is easy, great for a beginner. It is fast, if you need to whip up a quick quilt you can with this pattern. I like using a lot of different fabrics in a quilt and this will let you do that. You can make it using scraps if you like. I have purchased most of the patterns I have used. I was, at that time, unaware of all the "free" patterns out there. I still prefer to purchase a pattern and use it over and over again. I have taught people to quilt using this pattern and because it is a "pattern" all the instruction are there in full.
It is good that we all have our own likes and dislikes. This would be a terribly boring world if we all liked the same things.

And yes, it is mostly about the fabric choices
Thank you for this comment/answer. I agree with you, but you said it a lot more nicely than I could have!

/quote]My favorite for a quick quilt is "Just Can't Cut It". It is so quick and has been pretty in several different color combinations I have made.[/quote]
I have this book too and it's one of my favorites. That's mainly because I've used that phrase so many times when I'm looking at my fabrics with either gorgeous prints, or large patterns that I love. The book is a big help for times like that. 8-)

I agree with you, I was expecting more appeal and was very disappointed when I saw what it looked like. :-(

I am a new quilter, walked in and asked for easy pattern and they sold me this one. I am making it in Dr. Suess patterns and love it. I will post a picture when I'm done. Machine quilting it now. Loved how easy it was to follow.

One of my favorite patterns of all times...easy and fast and can look really nice when the right fabrics are used. Great for beginners because it is very "forgiving". First "real" quilt I ever made and I have made lots of them as gifts over the years....to each his own.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about either, like you I was looking for the "yellow brick road."

For me it was the first quilt ai ever did. And now, it is a nice no-brainer pattern for me when i need a break between bigger projects. I also used it as a guide when ai made a quilt for a friend who's grandmother had passed away. I made it out of her grandmother's shirts and a favorite sweatshirt.

I don't like the Turning Twenty because the patches are too big for my taste. even though they seem to be similar.
