    Default Yardage question.......

    I'm looking at this pattern:

    http://www.quiltinaday.com/freepatte...ads/autumn.asp

There is a downloadable link for the pattern.

For this one block is there any way to compute yardage for a queen size quilt? I would be putting two borders on it. One would be 2" and the other about 6".

i would bet if you sign up for the subscription & receive the free instructions for the whole scrappy quilt it is going to have yardage requirements.
otherwise you need to determine how many blocks you plan to make, & multiply that by the amount needed for the block- then add your borders....but the math is probably all done for you if you get the free instructions for the quilt.

Well, I signed up but the pattern is available for download right on the same site - so - we'll see if there is yardage somewhere in any email I get.

This looks suspiciously like the quilt called Lady of the White House that was in a magazine a while back. It was one of the first quilts I ever made. The color placement is slightly different.

The first page of the free pattern gives a clue to the yardage. You need a neutral background and four color families. Just figure out what you need of each color on the first page to make two blocks, multiply by 2.5 of each color (to make the 40 blocks for the quilt. You may want to use more blocks for a queen size, so add them in, plus what you need for the borders.) I like to make mine the size of a king size flat sheet to use on my queen size bed. Glad you asked about his, I love the pattern. Now I have to raid my stash so I can make one. Thank you for the idea.
