I hang my quilts on a plastic hanger with a folded sheet over it. This way the sheet pads the hanger and my quilts don't get any creases in them. By hanging them they don't get any fold marks. I also hang the backing as well.

Thie post made me grin. Looks like I'm not the only one who has a stack of quilt tops (and how about table runners, place mats and wall hangings?), just waiting for me to become inspired to make it into a "real quilt". -- I start quicker than I finish..

I'm with you. I just have to quilt a top as soon as I finish piecing it. And I have to bind it as soon as it's quilted so I don't have them laying around. However, I usually have several in the piecing stage because I get frustrated (or bored) with them before I'm done or need to start on another quilt for a baby that's due while something else is in process. But once they're pieced they get quilted right away. But I have to admit, I'm weak when it comes to buying fabric before I need it. Wish I had your willpower, crleslie!

I also quilt and bind as soon as I finish one. The ones I make are usually for someone else, so getting them finished and delivered is a priority. I do have random blocks from just playing around between projects that I keep in a square box. I think it is specifically for quilt blocks because it is a little bigger than a 12" square block.

The reason I hang my quilt tops is because I am not a longarm quilter. After I finish piecing a quilt I hang it until I can get the quilt top to my longarm quilter.

My local fabric store had a shopping cart full of the heavy cardboard inner tubes from decorator fabric. They were free so I took 2 of them. I simply roll my finished quilt top around the tube.

I always hang my unfinished tops on hangers that have clips. After folding the quilt, I clip the outside edges of the quilt to the hanger, never on the folds. If you need additional support for the quilt, you can add a binder clip or two over the cross bar also. This way I never get wrinkles or creases in my tops.

When I finish a quilt top I always do the backing and binding at the same time. The back is hung on the same hanger and in the same manner as the top. The binding is put in a zip lock bag. I then punch a hole in the top, above the zipper part, and then hung on the 'hook part. of the hanger.

Doing the backing and binding at the same time I make the quilt top is something I learned in a class with Carol Doak many years ago and has served me well. When the long-arm quilter calls and says she is ready for thequilts they are all set to go and when I get them back I can sew the binding on immediately.
