I have begun doing paper piecing. You can use the tiniest scraps for a bit of color - even ugly!

You ladies sure know how to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! Love your quilts.

This sounds like a great idea. There are also people on this site who would love the scraps, even if you think they are ugly. You may want to offer them to the people on line here.

Do you hand applique? I even use parts of old pillow pre-printed fabric, parts of the borders, or even a valentine fabric. pinks, yellows, blues, reds, for flowers.....the browns and greens for stems and leaf.....once you look at the fabric as "color" it will begin to make since.....I had a polar bear fat quarter, I used the blue sky for flowers and the tan of the bear for the center of the flower, etc. It will look beautiful. Have fun.

I love scrap quilts.. they are always a surprise. Most of the quilts I make are scrap, because that's mostly what I have to work with!

quiltville is such a great site for lots of scrap quilt patterns. I love them because they are fast and go together easily.

My grandmother never had money to buy fabric..She had to use scraps that anyone would give her and also used feed sacks..She made some of the prettiest quilts using tiny diamond shapes...also she made string quilts..These were odd size strips sewn onto paper foundations [usually newspaper ]..these were made into larger diamond shapes...Some of the fabrics were less than desirable...but when put together they became beautiful !!!!!

That is amazing! I am inspired to keep cutting my scraps into strips and giving this a try. You could but a solid between strips and make a big, gorgeous bed quilt.
