I bought 6 spools of varaigated thread under "Grab Bags" at the Tristan Italian Thread website for $20. This thread was regularly $60. The company is in Canada making the shipping $19.21. My BF and I ordered together and split the shipping. That makes each spool $4.93.

I only buy Aurifil from that website. And the Genziana cotton thread is the very same quality. I don't understand why it's so expensive here, over $10 a spool. It's not worth that to me.

Ohh, I'm bookmarking this -- Aurifil is wonderful thread. I found it first at the Cincinnati quilt show, then found more at the Minnesota Quilt show.

I’m Alex Veronelli from the board of Aurifil and reading this thread I can’t do without clear some inaccuracies I saw.
First that the website listed http://www.tristan.bc.ca/index.html is located in Canada and not in Italy and owned by an out-of-date Aurifil's Distributor, they are just correctly selling off the stock of colors left on their shelves .... but their disposal stock prices are not of course our MSRP ( Manufacturer's suggested retail price).
Than that Aurifil is a manufacturer of threads since 1983 and we do not have any business relationship with the competitor appointed : Cucirini Tre Stelle, our cotton production is made 100 % in Italy in Aurifil's Departments, you could also enjoy our Open Doors production on my youtube channel starting with the spools making http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPwM6z39JRs , than could be really interesting to learn how we dye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgPM8GLE39U and twist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix6Fnofbsog quilting threads if you did not had the opportunity to see before.
Last , if you ever would like deepen more about Aurifil http://www.aurifil.com & http://www.facebook.com/aurifil.quilt.thread

Right...Tristan is a Canadian Company NOT Italian. To me, it doesn't really matter if they're selling off stock of thread they're no longer going to be carrrying. It's inexpensive and the cheapest Aurifil I can find. Yes, the color choices are severely limited, but I will buy it in bulk from them until they run out!

The youtube links are interesting, but I still love Tristan's. Their service is great and it's still the Aurifil I love at great prices.

If I'm piecing with a pale peach instead of taupe, it doesn't matter a bit to me. There are some cases where that's not the case, and for those times I'll pay the higher price to get a specific color. But for my every day use, I'll keep using the box I bought from Tristan's.

I am really happy you can find my threads at great prices , this Tristan service has been also an help in develop Aurifil Brand awareness.
Finally ! I love to see artworks quilted with others colors than the most popular ....I have 252 colors in my card and they are all my babies ....I created them , LOL I am good father and I am upset when sometimes I see some of them neglected. I did just wish clarify the remoteness relationships between the companies.
