Default What Do You Quilt To?

I find that I like to have the TV or music on when I quilt, especially if I have repetitive (no need to engage brain) type stuff to do. I find it "keeps me company".

My default "companion" on quilting days is I Love Lucy because I know every one of them line for line and don't need to always be watching the screen. I can anticipate when the funny schtick is going to happen in order to look up in time, and I can pretty much quote the funny lines along with Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel......et al.

My teenagers tell me that Lucy is my "comfort TV". Sort of like Mac n' Cheese you can sew to. lol

I also like Larkrise to Candleford, Call the Midwife, or, as I did this weekend, Cranford. All excellent PBS shows from the BBC.

I usually listen to classical music or hymns. Christmas music if it is near that time of year.

Anyone else want to share what they have "on" while they quilt?

Might give me some ideas!

Love the BBC shows. That's the main reason I have a Roku. I usually have complete silence in the sewing room. I solve all the worlds problems while I sew.

"I love Lucy" is one of my all time favorites - I know all those episodes too - however, I found a new Lucy that I had not seen - its just called the Lucy Show - her son and daughter starred with her in the series - I found it free on Youtube - otherwise - I like to listen to old classic radio shows - or classic movies. I enjoy the noise in the background.

I used to listen to audiobooks while I sewed, but I find I'm more relaxed with silence.

I plug in the ipod and whatever mood I am in for the day will dictate my music choice....quiet and melancholy demands Yanni....happy and ambitious requires classic rock (a little Joe Walsh is my favorite)......some days it is country....and some days I let the ipod shuffle it all up.....but I do like my music when sewing!

I have had movies, television, The Monkees, and other groups, and even total silence.

I'm a middle/high school media specialist so I have several audio books I'm listening to while sewing-I need to preview some of their requests for our Accelerated Reading lists or new books I've chosen to preview or write tests for, if AR doesn't have it, and a few of my own choices just for me. Audible.com is my enabler :-). If I have the TV on its Tampa Bay Rays, Notre Dame or other college football or familiar shows so I'm content to listen without looking at the screen.

I listen to the sewing machine -- if I turn on the TV or have a radio on I forget to listen to it so I just concentrate on my sewing.
