Clever! It's fun to "McGyver" (spelling) things so they serve many purposes.

I also use the bobbinsavers for bobbins. I use various containers for different quilting needs; compartmented box for sewing machine feet, file type box for patterns, small boxes for different type pins, another box for templates. Recently found two thimble shaped ceramic containers that I stand small rulers, marking pencils etc. in. Use canning jars for buttons.
And, I have an old Princess sewing basket for general sewing. Also use a large gardening bag to store my square rulers, small cutting mats, specialty rulers and the outside pockets for various notions.

I got mine from a friend but I think they have them at joann's so using a coupon gets the price down.
I use the bobbin saver too...and if it gets bumped off the table and lands on the floor the bobbins don't fall out.
