    Default What was I thinking

Was busy making HSTs for a Triangle Tango quilt I found in BH&G magazine and using a pearlized set of Papillon by Hoffman fat quarters. Loving the large size (6.5 inch HSTs) and got out the 28 fat quarters and some white Moda. Suddenly in the middle of the whole process realized I was making twice as many HSTs as I needed. Even 14 fat quarters might be too much. My math skills have deserted me.

    Sigh........

Well, someone will get a new quilt. I will continue and just make two. Will give me more HSTs to choose from and make the top more interesting.

I did not have the yardage for the inner and outer borders so I am going to use a batik like Editha Sitar does in her quilts. There is some rich brown in the fabrics and teals and purples. So I will just take the whole top to the store and find a rich looking one. I am going to use the 4 inches of leftover fabric out of each fat quarter to make the inner border and maybe another batik to stretch it out.

Use the other pieces for the back of your quilt. Make the pattern different and you'll love it.

None of us are perfect and most of us have done exactly what you have just described

That is better than what I did. I was making a Triple Irish Chain, figured out how many blocks, and how much fabric I needed. Got all the blocks done, and realized that I only had HALF the required blocks made. Had to rush back to the store to make sure they still had the fabric I needed. I was lucky, I found the last bit that I needed in the remnant bin. Won't do that again.
