Hi happy quilters,
Where is the best place to buy Brother Bobbin Thread or if you suggest another brand.
Thought there might be a place with better prices than our local quilt and sewing machine shops...maybe on line.

What's so special about this bobbin thread versus regular sewing thread - threaded onto a bobbin?

I use coats and clarks Bobbin Thread. It lasts a long time.

Bobbin thread is thinner and you can get twice as much on a bobbin, less changing the bobbin. A spool came with my Brother SE350 and I love it.

I love it also. You can also use lingerie thread,super fine but strong. more than doubles the amount on a bobbin. I swear by Superior threadsfot my top thread. They have a lot of the quilters named threads like Alex Anderson but their own is great, little to no lint, strong, super colors.

Some of the embroidery machines are very finicky about the type of thread used doing embroidery. I had 2 brother embroidery machines and they were both picky, one was even more so than the other.

My brother SE350 is not at all finicky! It will use anything I put in it.

You are very fortunate. Mine only does well with Brother or Finishing Touch. Have tried others and the embroidery just didn't turn out well at all. Perhaps it would if I adjusted the tension. It just seems easier to leave the tension alone and use the thread that it likes best.

My Brother Innovis 4000D prefers only Brother Bobbinfil and is possibly the most expensive, but being thinner, seems to go further. Recently my Brother dealer, who also repairs and maintains industrial Brother sewing machines, suggested I try the bulk thread which they use - he filled a bobbin for me and my machine sewed perfectly.
