Cabin quilter, those are wonderful, excellent use of color! Don't you just love what black does for everything else?

Thank you, yes I really like black in quilts in fact I have made 6 with black background. The old eyes have to have lots of light to do them, but it is fun. Ruth

15 year!?? Go on and make that quilt, Pam. Life is too short. As you develop "skill" your vision of "perfection" goes higher and higher. You may never reach what you think is "good enough." I encourage you to take a risk and go for it!! It will be beautiful. good luck.

My dream quilt is the Bali Wedding Ring quilt by Judy Niemeyer. I know I am not skilled enough to do it but am so tempted to buy the pattern or kit, just so I can look at the picture!

I also have a Lone Star ambition - to do in striped batiks - I even have the fabric, but haven't had time to start it yet.

I never saw the Carpenters Square quilt before, I had to look it up on Google - its fantastic, is it very difficult? I can't even imagine how to break it down into blocks.

The "Winning Hand" quilt I made for my son. It's the easier version of the "card trick" block. His was made with a black solid background and the colors really popped.

Mine is an Around the World all done in shades of green. Very simple design, but it just 'worked' as it grew. I hand pieced it out of 2-1/2" squares starting with the single really dark green square in the center, fading to a pale yellow green with green flowers, then deepening back to the dark green at the widest point and repeating into the corners. At the moment I'm contemplating whether or not to put a border on it. Will have to get DH or DD to take a picture of it so I can share. Tried to take pictures with my phone and my webcam, but did not show the colors anywhere near right and the angle was bad too.

Usually it is the one I am working on. My favorite baby quilt was finished last fall. I am saving it for my first grandchild! (I hope it's a girl!)
