This is a search for Scrappy French Braid. https://images.search.yahoo.com/sear...uilts&fr=yfp-t
I did notice that a lot of the quilts are really Friendship Braid. Good luck with your quilt.

It depends what kind of look you're after. Because of the strong diagonals of the French braid pattern, it can be scrappy without losing the sense of pattern. On the other hand, by controlling the colors you can create other effects. For example, you can change colors gradually and/or move from dark to light (and back).
For the best of both worlds, how 'bout a "controlled" scrappy?

Just be careful because all those edges will be on the bias. My friend's FB tablerunner stretched a good bit. I'd suggest heavily starched fabrics before cutting, and handle gently, no pulling through the sewing machine or sliding that iron around. Good luck.

I have made a couple of French Braid quilts and they are really quite easy. They go together kind of like a log cabin, where you alternate sides.

I followed the link above and it appears that the sky is the limit for choosing fabrics for the French Braid pattern. I do think those with great contrast are the most appealing to me whether the contrast is color or pattern.

I made a braided quilt (well it's a ufo) but I have all the components except the strips done and my pieces were not on the bias. Anyway it's done in batiks a rainbow of colors. It's not a difficult quilt to make I just lost interest after running out of one of my fabrics!
