Default Singer Quantum L-500

Received it on Monday but did not have time to play with it until this morning.

IT'S AWESOME and all it says it is and will do.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and certainly the price I got it for. It came brand spanking new right out of the box.

Set it up and sewed with it right out of the box. Pretty much what happened also when I bought my Singer Computerized Featherweight several months ago. This 500 sure is alot bigger than any other machine I had in this house with the exception of my Singer Futura SES 2000 machine.

I love this 500 and happy I chose it over other more expensive models. What more can a gal want to sew and quilt. It has dual-feed, start/stop button, hook up for two spools of thread, separate bobbin winder which can be used while sewing to fill another bobbin if you need it, digital, heavier machine than I expected it to be, and much more. Still have to learn it all.

It definitely is what I needed for my fiber art projects and being able to sew alot more thicknesses than I could with my other machines.

More on what it does later.

Carol, if you plan to drop the feed dogs for any reason, try lowering and raising the feed dogs a few times. I got this machine from HSN when it first came out a year or so ago but after lowering the feed dogs a few times, the latch wouldn't raise them anymore. I could manually push the feed dogs up with my fingers and they would click and stay up, but the lever wouldn't work so I returned it and got my money back. I'm sure I just had a bit of a lemon, but since that happened to me I thought I'd pass the info on. Enjoy your new machine!

I have the Singer Futura 200 and the Singer Confidence Quilter...I love them both! I think Singer is working so hard to get their good name back that the next few years are going to be "good" machine years! Good luck and please keep us informed on how well it does!

I have the L-500 too and I also love it! Like you say, it's a huge machine. Along with the 500, have the CE-250 and the SES-2000 plus 5 other vintage Singers. I mostly use my 500 to do fmq because it has a larger throat space than my other's do. I've never had an ounce of trouble out of any of them (knock on wood), but I've noticed that the other machines that others on this board brag about also have trouble with their's from time to time. I buy what I like and can afford.
