I once needed 9 different shades of grey for a wall hanging. Whoever thought that there could be so many different greys? green greys, blue greys, brown greys...I forget how many piece of fabric I bought before I got 9 that went together. Did the same thing with a blue quilt. Don't think I'll do a color wave again for a long time.

Beautiful quilt.

When I think of Earth Tones, I do not think of white at all.

Great idea to use paint chips to confirm colours.

I have a quilt in process for my son. It is red, black, white and grey. There are 20+ different fabrics in it and lots of variation in the shades of black, red, white and grey.

When helping customers I'm often pulling out fabrics to match and is amazing how colors "change" depending on what they are paired with...That's why I check with several fabrics...some pinks look coral or peachy or more lavender or blue....

The "earth tone" lone star quilt is beautiful and the workmanship is excellent, but I would never call it "earth tone"

I think both blues and greens are hard to "match"--so many shades and tints/tones

It only took one time for me to figure out my late husband was colorblind. The "purple" thread he brought home was "green". lol

not necessarily my daughters favorite color is blue and she loves frozen but she loves dark blue like navy so its always a good idea to ask. Blue is also my favorite color but I tend to like the turquoise, aqua tones

I'm colourblind between blues and greens. This means I have to match them by tone. Guess what , they are my favourite colours.

My friend from work was getting married and I offered to make a signature quilt for the guests to sign. His wife told me "teal but not too bright" I sent her a link to the green through the teal jelly roll I was considering, and she okayed it. Then I get to the ceremony and her color was actually bright turquoise.

OMG! the Blues have a lot of it. We went through probably a dozen shades to find the right one for the office and not really sure if it's the palest of teal blue or aqua. To me it's what one could call a neutral blue. I never think of paint chips. Some would probably ask from what brand. geesh!!
