    Default what to stuff pin cushion with

    I am making pin cushions and what do you use to stuff them

    Like, 3 layers: I have used sand in the bottom, regular poly stuffing in middle, and wool stuff on top (what you use to do machine felting).
    The sand weights them so they sit properly, poly stuffing- cheaper to fill body, and wool has a natural oil that help pins and needles stay clean and sharp (it won't stain or hurt your material...

    I use walnut shells too, but I have seen sand in some and it adds a nice weight.

    I have used raw wool, poly-fil, and I just got an order of emery to make some pin cushions. I understand steel wool is also good for keeping pins sharp.
