For piecing and/or sewing I use Gutterman and wait until Joann's has there 50% off to buy it. A lot of people like Connecting Threads thread and I bought a box of that in assorted colors. My machine does not like that thread so I have given up using it. When I embroider I buy Janome thread from my dealer.

I use the coats and clark mainly cause I can get it at Wal-mart..I don't live close to a fabric store so I have to get what I can find...I have a question on the subject of thread? What do you use when you are doing a hand embroidery quilt...? I have been just using regular DMC thread..but before I get too far on it just wanted to know if that is ok?

I'm a Gutermann girl. Or should I say my machine is a Gutermann gal? No other thread keeps my machine happy. If lint is an issue--stick to polyester. The one who sold me my Babylock said she won't let cotton threads on her machines when folks come for classes--too linty.

I have been using the Connecting Threads thread for piecing and on the quilting machine and I have had no problems with it...

I was taught to use cotton thread on cotton fabric.
It's getting harder and harder to find around here!
I bought some Mettler mercerized cotton. It works fine in my machine, but seems quite thick.

I use Coats & Clark thread consistently. I have tried the better threads but my machine doesn't seem to appreciate them.

I have hand quilted several items with the Mettler and I really like it. But I was also wondering what other people use for hand quilting? It seems to me that it is hard to find thread that is specifically for hand quilting...just curious :?:

My LQS carries YLI made specifically for hand quilting -- it's just lovely to use. The only problem is they only carry it in white or off white. I guess I'll have to see if anyone else carries different colors... :D
