What is the difference between putting the darker sash on the left, right or bottom in the Attic Window pattern? Is there some secret to what you are trying to achieve as to where you put it?

It is just how you want the window to look.

I have made it with the sashes light and dark brown and the windows all different. THen I made one with scrappy sashes and the windows all were a navy print with tiny stars - WOW!! talk about 3 dimensional!!

I asked this at my lqs recently and she said you can do it however you like it. Guess it's another one of those - "it's your quilt" things... :)

It is a dimensional thing  to simulate light and shadows, like a regular framed window would have :D:D:D

the (basic) reasoning for the position of light & dark sashing is the direction of the light shining on your (picture). you decide what direction you want it to look like the light is coming from. the (illusion) you are looking to achieve. lay strips out with blocks and see what you like

I think it doesn't matter as long as you are consistent and put the same color (fabric or value) on the same side of each window. At that point, it is personal preference.
