When I bought my embroidery machine, the sales gals asked me what I planned to use it for. I said, "for making quilt labels". Well, after seven years, I've made so- o-o many more items than labels, that I wore out the feed dogs!!! You will enjoy your new machine; mine only does 100mmx100mm or 100mmx170mm, so am quite limited, but never ending. You will be amazed at your creativity as you go along. Enjoy.

Found this very interesting. I just got an embroidery machine and have no clue as to what I will embroider except on baby quilts. I like to put baby's name , date of birth, weight, length, time of birth, etc. on a center block on the quilt. Now I won't have to do it by hand. Just figure out how to use the machine...

I just took the plunge and purchased a 11000 Janome MC. I can not wait to take some class on how to download designs. It seems there is going to be alot to learn. Congrats on your machine!

Nothing is sacred in this house anymore. I will embroider on anything I can put into my hoops.
Done of my kitchen towels are blank anymore. I put all practice designs on pot holders and give them to my friends.

The GK's love table matts. I buy two, embroidery a theme on one and sandwich them together. They have birthday ones, sports, princess, and ones for each holiday now.
The GD's will bring a blank T-shirt and will ask for something on it.

I also quilt with mine. It is a slow process, rehooping, but gets the job done.

The first few years after I bought my embroidery machine I did a lot of designs on my young Grandchildren's clothes. I also used a LOT of designs on the first Crazy Quilt that I made which I enjoyed making SO much. I have also done a lot of designs and put them away in hopes of using them in quilts. Such as...we lived in Alaska for 14 yrs. so I did a lot of Alaskan themed designs, we also lived in Japan for 3 yrs. so I did a lot of Geisha and Oriental themed designs. Plus a few other sets of designs that I really liked.

If you're looking for ideas on what to embroider check out embroidery library. I use their designs so much and love them. Right now I'm embroidering designs on denim and making totes. Combining embroidery with quilting is my favorite use for my designs. I also embroider designs onto little girl's denim purses. So far the ones I made are cherished by the little girls that got them. The best thing I found about my embroidery machine is that whatever I want to do is possible. My best suggestion is read all of the tutorials on how to embroider in embroidery library's website. It's a very helpful place to begin your learning curve. Take your time and don't take shortcuts. Good luck and I hope you have as much fun as I'm having!!!

I use my embroidery machine on anything that doesn't move! LOL
I have made many embroidered quilts, wall hangings, bath/kitchen towels, clothes, bags of every kind and shape, covers for cookbooks/nook, Christmas/birthday/thinking of you cards and have even embroidered on toilet tissue/paper towels. I think someone that saw a project I had made, they would expect to see embroidery and beading. There are many design companies out there and all the sights have free designs and project ideas. Hope you have as much fun with your machine as I do with mine.

None, bought my embroidery machine several years ago and did lots of samples but never did anything on garments or quilts, etc. Paid all that money for nothing. Though I would put something on the embroidery machine and sit and sew at the same time on my other machine. But the embroidery machine requires too much attention. So, that didn't work, so, I lots interest.
