I'm trying not to buy much fabric these days. Yesterday I was in a HUGE fabric store with a 25% off coupon for all of my fabric. Good deal, right? But I was hard pressed to find anything, anything at all, that I wanted to buy. My stash has started to overwhelm me. When I started quilting, I underestimated how quickly the scraps would pile up. In any case, when I do buy something, it's specifically for a quilt I'm working on at the time and it's generally a background fabric. So solids, or tone-on-tones. Not complaining, just a fact.

I buy what I need for a project plus an extra yard. If I don't need it to correct mistakes it becomes Stash and trading.

I too am working to reduce my stash, so am buying only tone-on-tones to use for inner borders and bindings. I am also buying flannels because I make burp cloths for sale.

Novelties

The last I bought were the Fruit Ladies. I have a shelf/quilt hanger and like to change the quilt, actualy it's a wallhanging, for the season. I haven't made them all, right now it just has a generic one

Trying not to buy anything unless it is absolutely beautiful and I just have to have it. I'm trying to use what I have first.

Working on my UFOs and now completing a air force quilt for my DH. I'm on a non purchasing diet right now.

I've discovered that I am suffering from a dire lack of black and white. I use a lot of very bright colors, and combine them when I'm working on a quilt. Freddy Moran recommends using black and white when you do that in order to give the eye a place to rest. So, I'm trying to take her advice seriously. I've been buying mostly fat quarters when I find what I like. I have to admit she's right, it does make a difference. 8-)
