Try them... you will love them!
What are forked pins? Hope this isn't a silly question!
quilt Fork Pins - Clover originally made these fork pins to securely hold hard to handle fabrics and soft materials to prevent movement when you are trying to sew them. What a great device for quilt enthusiasts. These pins are small diameter (0.56 mm) and shaped just like a fork. They can be woven into the fabric very easily and because there are two pins in one, they are perfectly parallel in the fabric. These are great for more extacting work where thicker pins distort the fabric. They are actually made from piano wire. There are 35 pins in a snap closed box. They are approximately 2 1/4" long and thinner than the usual glass head quilt pin. If you are making quilts using velvet or velveteen, this is the pin to use. Fork pins are a good investment and handy to have around when you need extra control over your quilt fabric.

I really never thought about using a doorstop to tilt machine. Have to try that one.

My favorite tool is something called a ripper/clipper. They can be purchased at Shoppers' Rule. I have one by each machine as I usually have to rip something.

Took a class with Kaye England and she is a great promoter for the "Cut for the Cure" rulers. They are the best rulers I have ever used because you can actually see the edge of your fabric at various places on the placement line which enables you to have an exact cut with no guess work. There is a quarter square and half square triangle that are great for making "flying geese." They are a little "pricey" but they will never have to be replaced and there are so many different types of rulers that take the guess work out of measurements. Part of the selling price is donated for breast cancer research which is a plus for me since I lost my Mom and my aunt to breast cancer. Your LQS should have them.

I have always wanted to use glue stick on seams, but was afraid it would gum up the needle. Thanks for the info!
I loved the bamboo stilleto until I tried the metal one. Love, love, love it.

If you have a Northern Tool in your area, they have the rotary cutters for carpet and the replacement blades are much cheaper than the name brand blades. I have not used them, but all the posts I have seen on them say that they work great.
