You can purchase a hemostat at Harbor Freight. My DH bought one from there. I don't know what he uses it for but occasionally I use it when I have paper caught in my paper shredder.

Reading thru the posts the only thing I didn't see is to be sure you use the WHITE glue sticks and not the colored ones. The dye in the colored ones will distort the fabric and if you accidently go over the quarter inch you may not be happy with the results. When Walmart had the back to school area all of the glue sticks were colored....buyer beware. I do use it for applique..works great for holding things in place and no oweeees.

My Clover stilletto and it works for ripping too. Creative Grids 4"x8" ruler is second. I seem to always grab it instead of the others.

I like my magnet want dont have to stoop over. I also use tic tac boxes to hold a bobbin of thread when I am binding a quilt so I don't loose it. Also store needles in them and put the size on top don't have to look far.

My favorite items are: rotary cutter, ruler, 1/4" foot & a sewing machine with needle up & down & moveable needle positions. Makes live easier to do quilts, table runners & etc.

Then when we sewed the fabric worked itself in and each seam lined up perfectly. My bargello seams all matched. Amazingly so. Learn a lot by taking classes. Thanks for sharing. The glue just disappears into lalaland and does not gum up your machine. Since then, I have noticed the glue stick in lots of others tools of the quilt trade. Any brand is fine.
