I don't have a radio, MP3, or a TV in my sewing room, haven't watched TV in years, don't get a radio station where we are, plus I wouldn't have room for anything anyway, but I would go with maryye, old country, jazz

I'm with Loretta, 'cause I too don't have time to read. With three kids, I've gotten so used to interruptions that I've developed a very short attention span (I wonder if anyone else has this problem).

My favorite is an old cassette recording of "I Heard the Owl Call My Name".

But when I want music, it's variety: Native American flute when I need to be calmed, Ecuadorian Inca music when I need to wake up, oldies or country or folk or environmental sounds (thunderstorms or surf or crickets).

I love to listen to a book while I quilt. www.audible.com has a great selection of books.
Cathy Miller, also known as The Singing Quilter has a wonderful group of Quilting songs. She has done a lot of research on various quilts and quilters and has written songs about them.
Here is the link to her site: http://www.singingquilter.com

I have to have music!! I'm pretty eclectic in my choices but mostly listen to classic rock--gotta love the Eagles, Bob Seeger, Jackson Browne, Janis Joplin, Carly Simon, etc. I listen to the same CD over and over again until DH yells up the stairs "change that #$#@ CD for heaven's sake". I guess I also play it really loud lol!!!!!
