I see a singer 404 in a cabinet with button holer, auto zigzagger and manual. Says runs well and asking $35.00. I am more interested in finding a 401 but the cabinet looks good and is a small style. Would this machine resell easily? Just wondering.

My son is sewing with a 404 - it has a wonderful straight stitch - and seems to be relatively idiot-resistant.

I have no idea how the attachments work or how well they work.

They are little workhorses. You can't go wrong with a 404! I used them to teach seventh graders back in the 80's so they are solid machines.

At $35 you can't go wrong and especially with a cabinet and all the attachments/to resell it again would be priceless.
I have a 401A/cabinet and two 301A short and long bed.

I have a 401, wonderful machine. I would get it for $35.

I am really wanting a 401. I am going to look at it tomorrow and I am taking hubby along, you know what that means! I have another machine that I want to put into a cabinet so the deal will probably work out. Thanks for your comments.
