Has anyone ever purchased the hand embroidery blocks that are made from cotton/poly boardcloth and, if so, do they hold up in a quilt? I purchased the 9" nursery quilt squares. Thanks

Ask moanawahine. I did a quilt for my grandson with frogs on it and If I know her (my daughter) it has been in the wash many times.

i made some for my DGDs. the quilts are 7 and 5 yo. lots of machine washing. holding up just fine.

If you have Jack Dempsey brand broadcloth blocks, they will outlast any 100% cotton that you put with it. Not associated with the company, but have used a lot of their stamped goods.

I, too, have made many a quilt with Jack Dempsey quilt blocks. I am sleeping under a quilt that my aunt made about 30 years ago and it is washed regularly and is in perfect shape. Here is a quilt that I made for my DD using the JD blocks - but, it has never been used or washed:

Thank you Yes, they are Jack Dempsey Blocks. Great to know they hold out.

my daughter's baby quilt was made with them---35 years ago- she still loves that old quilt!

I have washed this quilt many times. My 5 year old son loves the quilt and it resides on the couch so it is used a lot when he is watching TV. I have had no problems with it coming apart or stitching undone.

Quilt she is talking about.

I have a quilt made for me in 1934, embroidered by my grandmother. I used it every day for years, the green fabric wore out but the embroidery didn't. Where you grab it to pull it up to your ears after getting in bed is where it wears, the rest of it looks like new.
