Default My new star quilt top

I am making this top for my guild. When it gets quilted it will be donated to a wounded
warrior. I need to make it a bit bigger. Was going to make it like the pattern on the far left
but to big and besides not enough fabric. Any ideas? It measures 24 inches nad needs to end
up being around 48 by 58. Ideas appreciated

I would add to 5 inch black borders to the the top and bottom. I would then add 12 inch cream borders on all sides with the same star in each corner.

I ditto Tartan. Lovely star and so nice of you to donate it!

It would be very appropriate trimmed in light to dark blues sashings & the red would "pop". Great colors!

Very pretty!

I would use blocks to border it. Perhaps a narrow (1.5") black border, then small (6") 9 patch blocks in red and tan, then another narrow black border ... that will give you 48" ... on the two sides that need to be longer I'd add a row on each end that are red and tan stripes but at the top of each add the star (or top of one and bottom of the other so either way is "up") ... kind of mimmicking the flag (star - stripes).

This sounds good and hopefully you would have enough fabrics?
