Where does one buy those plastic "sticks" that hold the spool of thread on top of a sewing machine? I have a 1963 Singer, and those "sticks" are always getting misplaced. Hancock's and Hobby Lobby don't sell them; they don't know what they're called, either!

They are called thread spools and you can get them at most vacuum and sewing shops such as All Brands. Some quilt stores also sell them if they sell sewing machines.

You can order them online from All Brands but then you would have to pay the shipping.

If you have trouble finding the thread spools, ask hubby to buy you a dowel that fits the hole size, get him to cut you a few lengths (just in case you lose one) and keep on sewing.

I've known them to be called "spool pins". You should be able to get them from your sewing machine service center.

Thanks for all the helpful replies! (I'd thought about buying a dowel, but I've lost ALL my spindles/spools/spool pins, so don't have a template)
