I will be plodding along on the king sized quilt I've been hand quilting for a decade or more. It was my first quilt, my "practice" quilt and has served me well as such, but my husband loves it (flaws and all) and wants me to finish it for him. Since he has a long list of serious health problems, I would LOVE to get it finished; it is far from being finished and life keeps getting in the way.

Besides that quilt, I have another waiting to be hand quilted. I am almost finished another huge top, so I want to get that done, pressed, photographed, and stored with the rest of my finished quilt tops. I never worry about my stored completed tops ... I'll get to those when I get to them.

And finally, I have embroidered theme quilt blocks that I need to organize and decide how I will use them. I started out with the idea of creating one theme quilt, but the pile of blocks has grown into several theme quilts.

Start and finish my grandson a Funny Farm quilt from Clothworks fabrics. I have all my fabric, but am scared to start on it.

Learn to applique so I can make my daughter a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt.

Start on two quilts for our camper, using the Happy Camper line of fabric from Moda.

And start/finish a quilt kit that I bought way back in the summer. It is called Cheese and Crackers.

I have all the fabrics I need for these quilts. I just need to get up my courage and start them!!

I have only a few goals for the new year.

1) finish an anniversary quilt for my parents. It was supposed to be for their 60th, complete with pics of children, grandchildren, great-grand children. Last year they celebrated their 66th. So I need to get it done.
2) start/complete a wedding dress for my daughter. She called me on the 1st to tell us she got engaged, and would I please...
3) start/complete a wedding quilt for daughter/new husband.

I think those will keep me very busy, considering the way life has of interrupting daily!

I'll try to post pics when things are done, if I can figure out how to do it myself. Somehow, technology is passing me by...

My biggest project of the new year is getting my stash organized and my sewing room set up....I cant wait to get that done.

Other then that I have a denim quilt I absolutely hate but is for a friend of my husbands so he is nagging about it...I NEED to get that done.

I have two babies on the way in the family this spring that will need quilts!!

Complete the swaps I joined.

Figure out how to complete an attic window quilt...I have the fabric to get started...not the courage.

And as I sort I am going to cut strips to make a scrappy trip around the world quilt for myself!!!!

We'll have to do the same thing we did last year...the first one to get something tangible finished, has to create a "What's Next for 2010 in Pictures?" and put it in the pictures section.

Everyone that gets their lists, you have to update all year....some people will drop off, others will add on. But if you start and keep going all year, at the end you can see all that you and your friends accomplished.

2. 30's quilt
3. grape/wine themed quilt
4. Churn dash quilt - Joint project with my mom. She is making one also with different fabric.
5. Quilt for a family member
6. Aprons
7. Tablerunners
8. Finish quilt for my niece
9. some sort of a scrappy quilt, using my stash
10. Print pics of my quilts I have made and make a scrapbook
11. Post some pics here!

That is it for now. I am sure I have more plans, but can't think of them!

well, kiddo's, here we are: January 5th, 2010!
We have had a 2-0 in front of the year for nine years, but somehow, it's now a 20 (twenty)...makes it seem so modern, futuristic.
I don't make new years resolutions. Setting myself up to meet goals is just not something that works for me.
Having said that, I do ok, with saying what I 'hope' to accomplish this coming year.
If I can get a number of my WIP'S finished, and maybe squeeze in a few small things, spontaneously, to break up the process...keep out of a rut, so to speak...I'll be a happy camper.
Keeping track like this, all of last year was so helpful.
I learned about quilting from this board, but I learned about me 'as a quilter', from this thread
Melissa, I think if I ever get my many projects pared down, I will probably be happier working like you described.
Maybe having two or three at the most, but at different stages on each one. Not doing the same thing three times in a row.
I have reorganized and reorganized my sewing-cave over the years, so many times. Each time learning ways to become more efficient.
Currently, almost all my fabrics are on shelves, and most of the WIP's are on the shelves directly in front of my machine. I keep my shelves covered to protect my fabrics, and so I am not looking at all those projects and becoming overwhelmed.
Some of those are just 18' X 20" boxes, about 2 1/2" deep, holding the fabrics, uncut, for a particular person, with an idea in mind.
So, it would make the most sense to sew the cut ones first.
I'm actually looking forward to all this. I can't get them all done this year, but I can sure put a dent in it.
I'm never gonna stop quilt-dreaming, or adding to my projects, I just intend to not add as fast, or faster than I can create.
Space is on my side. I have almost run out, LOL!
So, I feel really good about 2009 and what i learned, shared and got done.
I'm hoping that I will feel just as good at the end of this year, and look back and say, "wow! I did it! I broke my old record, and got even more done this year, than I did last year!"
No matter, what, I've said it before, I plan to have fun, no matter how many quilts are cranked out. Learning to quilt more, with less stress. I accept that I am never going to quilt at the same rate as a lot of ppl, but as long as we are all happy, who cares?

p.s. thanks to mpeters, who helped me find this thread, and was one of my tracking-buds for 2009. Thanks to noreaster for starting the 09 thread, but melissa, you kept me going with your feedback and stories all through the year. It was fun and I know we are going to do even more this year. Happy creating m, and everybody:wink: :!:

ok, in transferring my post from the 2009 thread to the 2010 thread, I ended up with a double post...thank goodness I didn't make a list on there! Would hate to think I had twice as much to do
I am making absolutely no predictions about how much will get done this year, but here's what I hope I will get done SOMEDAY, lol!:

>a lap quilt for my 6 grown kids...3 dd's and hubby's
>a lap quilt for 4 grandbabies, unless we get more of course:wink:
>A christmas quilt for each couple - bed sized OR individual laps
>various wall hangings, including some special ones for my living room*
>various table runners, maybe some table mats, curtains w valances
>various friend giftings...tons of those
>a sheepskin doggie bed for my Bitsy...already have the fabric and the dog, lol!
>finish a number of already cut and some started, WIP's
>finish some 'gifted to me' projects from my mother
>finish a couple dresses started for grbb #2, and when finished will go to her baby sister #4  - - :D
oh well...same mother (one dress is a replication of mom's)
>queen size eventually for hubby...have the pattern and the husband

Here's some of what I did get done in 2009:
>some very small wallhangings
>I don't know how many outfits or ind. tops or shorts, sundresses etc. for grandbabies
>finished two kitty cats and gave as gifts to two grbabies
>a doll quilt that I don't think I ever took a picture of, for grandbby #2
>very simple end table scarves
>a wallhanging/organizer for Secret Santa gift
>so many projects got either bundled and boxed, or cut out, that I don't want to count them!
>so many other quilting related things, such as blocks sent to ppl...a charity quilt started...I probably wrote them down somewhere...I am getting better at keeping track, which is what the 09 thread was about, learning how.
For much of the year I did not have a way to either take or post pictures, very well, so it took me a long time to get in the habit.
I plan to do much better this year in 2010. I also had to develop more courage. I'm a shy widdle mouse about posting pics
Now that some of my quilting skills have improved, along with my picture taking and posting skills, I am a bit more show-and-tell inclined.
I can't make promises, but if I eventually dig up some of these 09 pics, I'll post them. Don't ask me about them, mouse turns turtle when pressured...it's a quirk.
I just do if I do, and forget when I don't. I have a very full headspace, so forgetting is something that happens easier than water running downhill
But, the whole point of all this is to have FUN...and mousie knows how to do that.
So look out 2010, WE ARE QUILTERS + HERE WE COME!!!
