Default Wheelchair quilts/bags

Over the weekend my 17 year old son was in a car accident and broke his shoulder and his hip. He will be in a wheelchair several months.

It seems like I remember someone posting a free pattern for wheelchair pillow quilt? Since he's a teenager I'd love to spruce up his chair plus a bag to put things would be great!

Ive found some already made ones but would rather make it myself with some peace sign material. Maybe I could adapt a tote pattern?

Any ideas or pics would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your son.. I Guess we should be grateful that he survived, and will eventually be okay.. Someone was watching out for him..
Since you are a quilter, and on this board, you should be able to wing it.. Be creative, and enjoy making what is needed..

I made some a few years ago. Draw a big circle for front and back. Come off one piece of circle with a continuous piece of fabric that goes over the handle on one side. Put velcro or a button. This is pretty crude way to discribe it. It's kind of like a round purse.Mother kept salt, pepper, candy. kleenex, you name it in there, remote etc.

My daughter is in a wheelchair... for her tote bag, I have adapted a 'vera' bag by cutting the straps and attaching parachute clips/buckles to them and turning the straps so they can hook onto the wheelchair push handles.
(! hope this makes sense!!)
You might want to do a google search for wheelchair bags - there are some cool ones out there, for under the seat, and for the side. that kind may be easier for him to reach.
You mentioned a pillow quilt... if he needs a cushion for his back, maybe sewing some loops onto the short end of a pillow to keep it from falling.
I would suggest a gel seat cushion with a lambswool seatcover. His butt is going to be sore from sitting!!
Hope his recovery is speedy!!!
