I agree with DogHouseMom about using larger blocks.

My favorite block for a baby quilt is Friendship Star. It is graphically simple, has a large center, can easily be made any size, can be set with sashing or not, and can be set with other blocks. I like using 4 or 9 patches with it. And some borders.

I'm doing one in Warm Wishes to preserve the trucks in my fabric. It seems like an easy pattern, but with the right colors will make up just fine.

I would cut the rocketships in a bigg block, to get the whole rocketship in the block and just put strips of the other fabrics around it, like a courthouse steps or just as little borders. When you decide how many rocketship blocks you want to use with the little borders attached. Add border or borders of the other fabrics to make to the size you want. I suggest making at least a crib size so the Baby can use it for a much longer time. Just my thoughts. I get my inspiration from all the fabrics I have and my desire to try and use it up before I check out. Good luck.

I get my inspiration from colors! I see colors that really grab me and I just have to make a quilt with those colors.
I buy the fabric in the colors I want, then find a pattern that will really let them shine!

I can't post a link with this Android, but we used a rocket fabric for a baby quilt and posted on the QB. The title is Take 5 - Grandma's quilt for baby.

Sometimes inspiration takes time. We are stil staring at a couple of stacks of fabric for Kim's brother and sister-in-law.

How about snowball and nine patch mixed. use the little rockets in the snowball and use the other colors for the nine-patch.

Why have your fabric in blocks at all? Make a big rocket ship out of the appropriate colored fabrics, scrappy style. I mean, make the fabric out of appropriate scraps, cut out a big rocket ship. Use it in the center of your quilt. Then use your rocket ship fabric as the border around it. Fill in with any thing that hits your fancy - appliqued planets, shuttles, Mars Rovers, etc.
Lots of ways to use your fabric and showcase the rockets.

I'm that same way. If I'm inspired (& that can come from anywhere... seeing a quilt, seeing a pattern, finding some fabric, hearing something that would make a good name, just out of the blue), nothing can stop me. But if I'm not feeling it, I'm not feeling it. So I just have to wait those dry spells out... or fall back on an old stand-by (like Yellow Brick Road) if I need a quilt for something.

A pattern that I have yet to make but that I've seen lots of pictures of & heard nothing but good stuff about that might work for your fabric (which sounds too cute, BTW) is "Warm Wishes". I know it's a freebie at one of the magazine sites. Just an idea...
