Has anyone used the triangles on a roll to create half square triangle blocks? I am going to try this today, but could use some encouragement. I used them before, but that was two months ago in a class, with the instructor right there. I hope I can remember what to do.

I guess my question is does anyone use them and is it worth paying for?

I have tried it, got a roll at one of the local quilt shops. Not sure if I like it or not. I love TIGER TAPE! Same basics, only a removable tape that you can reuse as long as you don't cut it off of the sewn triangles.
Leave it in tack and peal off to put on another pair of squares.
The paper, once sewn, has to be taken off, sometimes it came off easy, other times not.

I used it a few times and you just follow the dotted lines and cut on the solid line in between. I liked it because the triangles kept a nice shape and didn't get distorted while I was working with them. I bet you'll do fine. :P

I haven't tried those. I did get some Thangles, but haven't used those either. When I cut out HST's for a scrappy I'm attempting, I used a slotted plastic guide. Now for the very life of me, I can't recall the name of it! YIKES!!

Okay, I have now made 98 consistent triangles, and I have decided I like the triangles on a roll. I bought a roll of 600 triangles, so that means it cost me about $3. to do the triangles for this quilt. It also means I have enough to do 5 more quilts...if I stick to this one pattern.

Anyway, I do like them. I have problems following a straight line when I sew, but the dotted lines were pretty easy for me to follow on these.

I absolutely love using Triangles on a Roll! My half-square triangles come out consistent in size every time. I have a quilt pattern and fabric for a queen size quilt that is all half-square triangles and you can be sure I will be using Triangles on a Roll when making it. I will be starting on it as soon as school is out. Try it...I bet you will love it too!
