I've just recently learned applique and am simply hooked! Do any of you have good online resources where I can buy 1/4 yards or fat quarters of fabrics? With the applique I don't need to pick up whole yards as much as I need an assortment of small pieces. I just ordered some from Favorite Fabrics but could use more resources. I don't like the dullness of Moda and have given away most of my precuts.
Thanks everyone,
Janet

I also prefer smaller cuts - I'd rather have the variety of 40 purples in different textures than one or two fabrics.

These shops offer 1/4yd cuts:

I wish more sites online also did that, including the bigger ones like eQuilter and Hancocks. Maybe one day.

My shop does......if you find a fabric on the site that doesn't have a 1/4 listed, I've probably just overlooked it....drop me an email in that case, and I can cut to the size you need. :)

I bought a lot from piecework fabrics. They have a lot of sales on fat quarter bundles.

What about charm packs. I use those a lot for applique.

If you like batiks...batiksplus.com has recently started selling "remnants" and scraps "from years of collecting"...might be a good place to check.

I also like small pieces of fabric, there are some online stores that are willing to cut 1/4 yard pieces. I go to quiltshops.com to find the fabric I am looking for, then I just start trying to put 1/4yd. in my cart, some will, some won't. Recently I have been looking for a specific line and wanted small cuts, the stores that had the fabric wouldn't allow me to buy 1/4 yd pieces. I sent an email to the shop stating that I would be interested in buying a large quantity of many small pieces of these fabrics as well as some larger cuts, would they consider cutting small pieces for me. I got a reply, and they said that they would do it and explained how to do the order. This is a long story just to say...it can't hurt to ask. They may not be willing to do it for a $10.00 sale, but if you are spending more, I would definetly try it.

Bumping up the post.....

For Quilting Board members only....if you want to place an order for FQs (or other yardage orders), please call the shop (or email me) and I'll waive shipping costs for US orders through Labor Day weekend orders (deal ends midnight Sept. 4). Mention this post in your email or phone call before placing order. Newer online quilt shop trying to get established and help out fellow quilters :)
