At this point all fabric, few quilts that were not given away and books goes to my 14 year old DD. If she wants to share with any of the other 13 sibs she is welcome to. DH gets the vintage machines and my quilt.

I've been thinking about this too. In my mind, I'd like my granddaughters to have my machines, but I have more machines than granddaughters, grandsons too, for that matter. My DH would likely just have a garage sale...

I heard a good idea once (maybe here): those projects that we have sitting around - either UFOs or unstarted, put the project along with pattern in whatever container you like. I often reuse those clear zippered bags that linens come in. Then label the project. If it is going to be a gift put the recipient's name on it. That way if the quilter passes away unexpectantly, when family members are going through the chaos, they will know who the quilter had in mind for each unfinished project.

This topic will inspire me to carry out my plan. My 2 girls have already selected one or two and I've put their names on the quilt because I use them for decorating my home. They will get them when I replace them. Eventually, I want my children and grandchildren to come and declare the quilts they want and will receive them on the spot. What I'll do with those they don't select, I'll offer to my friends. Fabric, machines can go to anyone who wants them or to an Indian reservation which our church sponsors, or to our church rummage sale. That's as far as my plan goes.

I retired 6 yrs ago, sold home to move closer to son and DDL, to take care of new DGD. Told my children to get what they wanted and sold everything else. Bought new camper. Out of 7 rooms, only new living room furniture and lamps taken . Noone wanted anything else. After 16 months, DDL wasn't so D any longer. Now have moved back and started all over again. Live with DD and her DH. Now, I only buy things she likes, or give away everything I make. Works out great for me.... Now!
