I'm not sure I understood a guild member when she said a teacher of machine quilting recommended practicing on felt - that it give the same "feel" as a quilt sandwich?

Has anyone tried this? Or even heard of it?

I thougtht she meant to use only a single layer of felt in place of a fabric & batting sandwich.

thats a really expensive way to practice.

i used inexpensive walmart fabric and batting and then i used water soluble thread in the bobbin of the sewing machine.

i would practice across 3 yards of fabric and then wash it out and practice again.
