I look at it this way there is clean dirt and dirty dirt. People come to see me not my house, I hope anyway. I sew like Elenor Burns then one sweep and into dust pan.

I live alone - every now and then I hollar the maid (me) and tell her that I'm going to fire her if she doesn't keep the vacuuming up, laundry done, etc. I remind her that I'm too busy quilting to keep reminding her to do those.

I spoil myself with a cleaning service that comes in every 2 weeks. However, I spend that morning picking up and putting away so that they can do their job. Ends up working out pretty well, as I don't have enough time to make too big of a mess between cleanings. I also have my Dad for dinner every Sunday, so have to at least straighten up a bit. It's forced clean up, which is the only reason it gets done. My husband is a great helper, so often I cook and he cleans - works for me.

I have not been quilting too much but I need a clean house and garden then I work on my "quilting hobby" as my husband calls it. When I get too frustrated that I can't keep up the cleaning because I get too busy at church, family stuff, babysitting grandchildren my DH will call a cleaning lady to come in and catch me up. And she will do windows! DH says that I when I am not a happy camper he does not like to be around me..haha

We are retired and there are just the two of us. I don't hoard and there is a place for everything that we do have, so cleaning is not a problem. Hubby does most of the cleaning and laundy and mostly I just cook, so it works out just fine.

I am getting ready to let loose of some more supplies that I no longer use. I do this every year. I thought I might sell some on Graig's list and what doesn't sell can go to goodwill.

Packing for a move, I am finding myself doing much more cleaning that quilting. Good thing I live alone because I am probably a bit more grumpy than normal because cleaning is NOT fun but quilting is !!

Husband does the dishes. I do everything else. I take care of my cockatiel, three cats. Kitchen floor gets swept several times a day. Always before we leave for work, bed gets made sinks wiped up. Nothing is very dirty. I like a clean place. I clean on weekends to take a break from sewing. Sitting too much will make my back hurt.

I teach violin lessons in my home. Pretty much the only time I vacuum is when I know a student is coming. The dishes get done every three days. I don't have a dishwasher. We have dog toys all over and I have hand stuff... crochet, Cathedral windows, etc. by my chair, to do while I watch tv in the evening. My husband does his own laundry, I do mine and the cooking. My sewing is in the basement, and I periodically sweep and vacuum. Works for me. I too, don't care anymore. I want to enjoy what little time I have left, and I hope my family will remember those wonderful quilts I made them.... not my messy house.

In January I moved into one of my daughter's house, with the 2 youngest. She purchased the house so I can live with her due to becoming disabled..If have the greatest excuse not to clean---I have COPD, and can't breathe well...I can sit and sew tho!! I would be afraid to move the refrigerator- we have 3 cats and 4 dogs. Luckily the younger 2 clean enough that no one really knows what is hidden away!! Half the den is my ssewing area, and thanks to the great IKEA desk with cubbies, my mess doesn't look too bad. Forget about what is in my bedroom tho! I have 9 children, so keeping a spotless house has never been my priority even before quilting..If someone wants to come visit, take it as it is!
