Default Who else has a love/hate relationship with their can of spray starch?

I love using starch when making my blocks. It straightens things out, makes the fabric stiff as a board and when I square them up, they have crisp, clean, sharp-as-a-knife edges...but I hate spraying the starch. What's with those cans of spray starch anyway? They never work right. The starch will come blasting out in the beginning, but quickly ends up just dribbling on the fabric in slow motion. I've tried taking the nozzles off and washing them out, using a pin to open up the hole, lined them up with the red dot, shake, shake shaken the cans...nothing keeps those cans spraying smoothly. I'd go buy liquid starch and put it into a hand sprayer, but they don't carry it around here and, DARN, I want to win this battle with the aerosols!

There have been some good postings for making your own starch too - corn starch and water - boiled or not - essential oils or not. Try the 'search' - should get some good tips

Funny, I thought it was just me. The can I currently have is really giving me a hard time. If I hold it upright, it comes out in a stream, not a mist. I have to hold the can upside down and spray for it to come out right. I look like a contortionist trying to starch my fabric! LOL

I don't use the can anymore, I like the non-aerosol spray Niagra. Smells better, too.

I use the pump Faultless Maxx. It's in a black plastic bottle, smells and works great. I never had good luck with canned spray starch.

Never had luck with starch. I get it on everything but the fabric. Too messy.

I've had to throw away several cans in the past because they wouldn't work right. I also use liquid starch 50/50 with water in a spray bottle but I really love the cans.
