I didn't want them when I purchased my Janome and the dealer you will use them all the time. Never have used them and still don't see a need.

I use them to quilt with all the time Bernina machine have a set of quilting decorative that are the best , I teach classes in these stitches .

I use the blanket stitch a lot for applique, the serpentine stitch to sandwich my charity quilts--that way, if you don't hit the corner exactly, it is very forgiving. When I am doing receiving blankets and burp clothes, I use different decorative stitches.

DJ uses 'the same two or three' decorative stitches, but are they the same two or three that someone else might use? Which are your 'go to' favourites?

I also have the Pfaff EXpression 4.2 and have used stitch # 77 set at 5.0 and 16 to get what looks like a typical Serpentine stitch. You could also use stitch # 76 I think. BTW, my daughter lives in McKinney and my son lives in Melissa. I love going there to visit the quilt shops....and the kids too

I use them a lot in fact that is why I have my current machine because it has a lot of stitches my Janome didn't have. I enjoy doing strip quilting and I use the decorative stitches in place of hand quilting. I have done many quilts this way.

I love the buttonhole and other cute ones for working around applique. I use that and the zig zag a lot, that goes around my cross stitch as well as for edging all my clothing.

I also use my decorative stitches at times for quilting on my DSM. I love the serpentine stitch and a few others that I use the most. I back my quilts with fleece and often outline quilt the blocks using one of the decorative stitches.
