I agree with all of the above! This site provides inspiration. I have been quilting over 25 years and I think I learn something new everytime I get on here. My husband tells me if I would spend as much time sewing as I do reading this board, I could complete a lot of these UFOs hanging around! LOL!

I have been quilting for at least 40 years. I like this board because it allows me to have contact with other quilters without the gossip and politics I didn't like with the two guilds I belonged to. Since the quilters on this board are basically faceless I can interact without worrying about personality conflicts etc. There is no voting for officers or begging for raffle ticket sales etc. The original guild I have belonged to for more than 25 years has gotten carried away with the price of dues and the requirements for selling or purchasing raffle tickets. The last straw for me this year was when they gave us a number when we arrived at the Christmas party and basically made it a mixer. I had to sit at a table with 7 woman I knew nothing about and wasn't even sure if they were members. I liked the personalities and the less intense air at the other guild I also belonged to for almost twenty years. They are almost an hour drive for me in rush hour traffic in the Baltimore metro area. I am 62 and have some permanent health issues so that drive is something I am getting unable to face.
I can visit this board 24/7 and get my quilt fix.

I have only been quilting since 2007 and this is where I have learned the most. I spend time here in the morning rather than reading a newspaper. I am in awe of where we all come from around the world, that we are young and old. Some have more busy lives and still manage to quilt. I love seeing the efforts and creativity shown here and appreciate the feedback when I post a question or share a finished quilt. I even met 4 quilters here that live near me and now we meet occasionally to quilt and are working on our own row robin.

I come to the QB to learn, share and have fun. My quilting has improved so much because of the tips and techniques posted. I love looking at the pictures of everyone's quilts - it's like a mini quilt show every time I look. I enjoy reading about other people's stories - the frustrating as well as the successful. When I can't get to my sewing, this board keeps me in the quilting frame of mind. Like someone else said, I get my quilting fix. It's a wonderful place to come and be a part of the quilting world.

All of the above. Stop and think how much quilting has changed in the last forty years. If I had stopped learning when I started in the early 70's I would be cutting fabric with scissors, using cardboard templates, be aware of only traditional quilting methods. Well you get the idea, quilting is a rich and ever changing art and this Board is a show case for that variety. However great the info is the gentle, caring, generous way our members treat each other is the best. Some days you make me smile, cry and laugh, all in a twenty minute period. The saddest part about your friend is that if you don't think you can learn anything new, your probably right.

I joined this quilting board last year after starting on my first quilt. I searched and searched the internet for help/guidance and this was the one. I enjoy reading about everyone's achievements. What I have enjoyed the most is all the links people give. It has cut down on my searching for fabric sites, how-to/tutorials, and a whole host of other websites. This board makes me feel like I belong and that is good for me as I don't have anyone near me that quilts.

The friendly caring attitude of "look here, I did this, you can too", the opportunities to find what you're looking for (a certain fabric, a technique, an idea, an opinion) or help someone else do the same, the swaps and challenges, the fellowship of like minded individuals from all over the world. This board is the greatest!
