I started without one and used my foot controller to control the speed. I tried just setting the speed & using my start/stop button but I did much better squeezing the foot controller.
Not to hijack the thread or anything.... BUT I have been riding for just about 30 years and have taken numerous MSF motorcycle safety courses. The correct procedure for maneuvering a motorcycle through a curve is you slow down BEFORE the curve and accelerate as you procede THROUGH the curve. If you ride and you are doing what you describe you have been very fortunate indeed that you have not gone down or caused an accident.

Come to think of it, this how I LA as well, I slow down just before the curve than accelerate through it to get a nicely rounded edge to the curve. Slowing down through it tends to cause "squarcles" (squared off circles). Oh and for the OP, get the stitch regulator, you won't regret it.

THANKS SO MUCH!!! There is one thing I have learned....listen to the voice of experience!!!! So if I get the stitch regulator from Grace Company, it will fit on my Saphire machine.

I ordered my stitch/speed control from the Gracy company. They needed to know which machine I have. it plugs in where the foot control plugs in. It is made for the frame not the machine.

I have a Viking Sapphire 830 & a Grace Mini Pinn frame. It came with a free stitch regulator, but it won't work on the Viking machines, unfortunately. I would like to tape the foot pedal somewhere, but on the Vikings, it is so big, I can't add it to the handles, so I move it along the floor as I quilt. Any ideas on this, if you have the larger foot pedals? Just curious....

If you are using a Viking machine, it won't work on yours, the plugs won't match up, so be sure you check this out before you spend the money for one!

They have a list they can email you, of machines they do work on, so check that out too!
