I never had a smell but my mats are from 25 years ago. Maybe they are making them differently now.

I don't know, but I'll just say I don't think anyone is suggesting that any one of us
just "put up with the smell till it goes away".
Here is exactly why I wouldn't ever do that: my mother and stepfather used to go
camping a lot.
I mean A Lot.
This meant lots of campfires and being in parks with lots of other campfires.
Now my mother is
eighty two and has COPD and never smoked in her life.
See where I'm coming from? We are affected by what goes into our lungs. I
would definitely
put any stinky tool out in the circulating, fresh air away from ppl.
A friend gave me her design wall cover, (like a shower curtain with grommet holes),
bc it smelled
so bad when she got it.
She had it a couple years in the pkg. before she gave it to me. By this time I
never had a problem
with it. She was happy, I was happy.
Smells are little spores of something that the olfactory in the sinuses are alerted to.
I don't think it's healthy if it smells like chemicals or is offensive.
I would try the vinegar etc. but in an open area and I might consider wearing a mask.
(my dh has COPD too)...signed a mouse trying to protect her lungs and ears and fabric
