Have you ever thought about or actually entered a quilt contest? What are you opinions on it?

Hi there,
I didn't realize you were from New Hampshire also!

Anyway, I won't be entering the JoAnn's contest. I was there recently, wandering around, looking and touching all the fabrics. I didn't buy any. I didn't feel inspired enough by what was there to create a quilt using just JoAnn's fabrics. If I could intermingle some fabrics from other sources, I would be more inclined.

I've never entered a quilt in anything, not even a fair, but I want to someday, and Joanns is as good a place to try as any. Maybe in 2 years when I retire I'll have time to really take my time and make a "perfect" quilt to enter (perfectly square, all block seams meet, no wavy borders, etc.). Right now I'm kind of casual about some of my boo boos and only fix them if they scream "mistake".

I have never done anything like this...

Do Maryland and Vermont have laws against quilt contests? Just curious because I have never heard this before.

Something is because in the Eligibility section it says the contest is void in Maryland and Vermont.

I wonder why.

I keep thinking about it, I guess if I'm going to enter I had better get busy. If I do enter I will post my entry, I may chicken out, will have to see what fabulous idea's I can come up with. Although I think it said kits or patterns can be used but will be judged on creativity.
