Can anybody explain the difference between regular flannel and woolies flannel? Any information would be appreciated.

The only thing I've seen online is that "it looks like wool, feels like wool, but sews like cotton and doesn't scratch like wool." My guess is that it is more expensive than regular flannel...?

Oddly enough, I just read an article about Woolies Flannel in the June/July issue of Quilt Magazine. (pg 14) Woolies Flannels are flannels in prints and solids designed to look like wool (herringbones, plaids, etc). You can check it out at www.maywoodstudio.com. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Woolies flannel are a wonderful flannel fabric that is made by Maywood....it looks like it would be made of wool. There's a tweedy look to some that you'd swear were wool. There's plaids and little checks and solids, and they look like fabric from wool. It's just the best flannel for a cozy quilt, I have made about six from woolies. They're great!

There's also a Woolie Light flannel available......it's a lighter color line of flannels that look like they are wool. They make great baby quilts or for a room that you need a more pastel looking flannel quilt.

Woolie flannel is available at quilt stores and is about $9.50-9.99 a yard, same as Moda flannels or other quilt shop brands.

I love woolies....check them out!
