For $40.00, I'd jump on it. It has endless possibilities and it looks like it has been fairly well cared for. Try to buy a new table/stand for that amount of money.

It might be good for notions, but I am short enough on space that it sure wouldn't work for me

Yes, it's worth it... I saw the same table at an antique auction recently. Didn't watch to see how much it went for, but I'm sure it was more than $40. These were made as sewing side tables, regardless of what people actually used them for. If it's in decent shape, it's more than worth the price she is asking.

Don't have this type but it's uses are pretty varied. For that price I'd go over and get it right away.!

It's a beautiful cabinet. My mom has a drop leaf table that matches the foot of this. It looks like maybe it was from a set or something. If it is solid & not wobbly, I'd buy it.

Just the fact that it is vintage is worth the price.

I saw one of these for sale locally not too long ago, but it sure wasn't 200.00. I can't remember the price, but less than 100.00 for sure (maybe 75?). Still, I think $40.00 is a decent price, if you can use it and have space for it :)
