Have you noticed when you tell people you quilt, they want to know if you will do their mending for them?

My family, all the time. I'll do my DH's mending or requests because I don't want him using my machine or in my sewing room. My girls know how to sew so I usually tell them no. My granddaughter is an automatic certainly I'll do it for you. All others I just say I don't know how to mend.

I really hate that. I offer them needle, thread and buttons if they need 'em, or ask what they want to trade.

Yes! They also think that making costumes would be "easier" than making a quilt too LMBO

I sew and quilt but I always cut them off saying, "I don't do alterations." Always hated it and always will! I especially look for petite clothes just so I don't have to mend or hem!
