Default Would you suggest a border?

This is my variation of Missouri Star's "Big Star." My, it sure is RED! It is much larger than it appears in the picture. It already fits our queen bed, but I think it needs a bit of a border. What would you talented folks suggest? This is for my sweet husband, whose favorite color is red. By the way, I don't really have a large amount of the fabrics left over.

If you put a narrow white border on first, the stars will appear to float. If you have more of the red fabrics, you could do an outer border of repeating red/white HSTs, about the size you have in each block.

If it was mine I would add a white border and bind in red...love your red stars!

Great star top! I might do a white border with the red squares in it to finish the pattern. Start thinking about what you plan to quilt to give you ideas. If you don't want to make the top too much bigger, just do half of the red square in the border.

its beautiful. I would add a black border to give it contrast, but that's me. I love adding black to a quilt.

I always think that a border "completes" a quilt...just like framing a beautiful picture.

BTW pretty quilt.

Maybe a white border with a red binding. It's a beautiful quilt.

I will be the contrarian here and vote for no border and just bind in red, especially if you like the size as is. Lovely work!

I agree. Without a border, your binding will cut off the star tips.
