You know I don't mind being told something is wrong with my quilt. But I belong to another quilt group on the big world wide net. There is one lady that jumps on what is spelled wrong. A mistake on a quilt. And not just me or my quilts but others too. Then after she goes on and on she will delete what she has said. Then she will send a pm saying she don't want to embarrass you. Personly I have seen several mistakes she has made and keep my big mouth shut.Sorry if this sounds like a rave.

I have really enjoyed this post. Great minds work together. I will never post a 'perfect' quilt. :)
When I do post, I can tell you how many mistakes and re-sews there are in the quilt. I have made some really bad ugly quilts and I will probably make some more. :twisted: I have made some really pretty quilts and I will definitely make some more. I am going to show you the ones I like the most. They may be the bad uglies and they may be the pretties. When you see my glaring errors and you make that pattern you will be remembering my glaring mistake and make sure it doesn't happen on your quilt. I have then saved you from the same disaster. :lol:
We are all just humans. We are going to love your quilt simply because you made it. We are quilters and share your passion for the art.
If you see an error in one of my quilts you are welcome to tell me. I have probably seen it too and may or may not repair it. But if you are not mean and nasty telling me, I will not be offended. Sadiemae comes to mind. I love reading her posts and responses. She seems to me like a person that would never make a mean or nasty statement to anyone. She could tell me anything and I would know I was not getting slammed.
I love to make Bargellos. When I choose a fabric, I have my reason for doing so. It might not be the best blend in the world but maybe I don't care as much about the blend as I care about having that particular fabric included in the quilt. Or, maybe I don't have other choices and can not go shopping for 'the perfect fabric'. I'm just saying there are reasons we all make the choices we do when we make a quilt.
(I will tell you a secret. I have just selected 24 fabrics for my next Bargello and am stepping out on a ledge. I am using a lot of white on white and blues. I hope to create a 'ribbon effect'. It will be a disaster or it will be awesome. I am willing to invest the fabric and my time to see what it will look like. If it is a disaster, everyone in this post has my permission to say so. We will just all enjoy it for the fun and learning that is there for us. Okay. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
If I were making a quilt and knew the pattern wasn't working I would eagerly post and ask "what am I doing wrong"?. I think, for the most part, we have a sense of knowing where our mistakes are and will ask when we want help. It kicks your feet out from under you and takes the breath from your lungs when you get slammed in a post. It takes some time to get 'over it'. No one wants to get slammed.
I love what being a member of this board gives me. We offer each other support, sharing, knowledge, comraderie, etc.

To me, it would make a difference whether the quilt was a WIP or completely quilted and bound. If you can't change it, why make someone feel terrible about it? However, if I posted a quilt top, I would prefer to know if there was a mistake so I could fix it.

Unless someone asked an opinion, then I would give one. I am no where near as what I would call professional. I read other blogs and it was said, a quilt that is finished is better then one not done, or something to that effect. I also found that a majority state that they are not on point sometimes, but, to the recipent, they don't know this. Quilts are made with love, and unless it is a quilt that someone wants to put in a show, I probably would not point anything out, as I know how I strive to be better, and I know when I am not quite on point, but, I am proud of what I did

I am here to learn and would like constructive help. Like anything it is not what you say, but how you say it. I have not posted any pictures of my quilts out of insecurity. One of the things I enjoy most on this forum, is the way the majority of you encourage and praise. When I do post, if my error great, please save me the embarassment and send me a pm. I want to know, but privately.

I'd want to know. However even if every single person on this board said the same, I wouldn't say a word to them because I don't really know anybody here and often times what people say they want and what they really want are two different things. Amongst my half dozen closest friends...I'd speak up.
